Grandma's Cabin offers that warm, fuzzy feeling of going to grandma's house. Come gather around the fire, share your stories and create fond memories with your family. The bubbling creek, along with an occasional croaking frog and crickets chirping in the background provides a beautiful backdrop for your stay.
Relax on the screened-in porch while sitting on rocking chairs with your first cup of coffee in the morning. Or soak the evening away in the hot tub, nestled on the edge of the forest.
This charming getaway is perfect for couples and smaller families. Reasonable rates are offered in this comfortable, clean, quiet cabin - along with fun, charming decor. Complete relaxation and entertainment is at your fingertips with a 70-inch mounted flat screen TV, cable TV service with DVR, premium audio, Apple TV (just plug in your Apple, Hulu or Netflix accounts), and a super-fast, 20 Mbps Internet connection.
Modern conveniences abound throughout the cabin. Each bedroom has a 40-inch flat screen TV with cable. There are also two full baths, along with washer/dryer, outdoor gas grill, ceiling fans, board games and so much more.
The resort itself has three swimming pools, a tennis court, a general store, and gas pumps. You'll find Grandma's Cabin located at Gate 2, in the Enchanted Forest section of the resort.
Explore nearby Daniel Boone National Forest and the Big South Fork National Recreation Area, including one of the highest elevations in Kentucky including some of the best hiking, camping and natural outdoor wonder in the entire country. Quite frankly, it's gorgeous down here and you won't be overwhelmed by tourists and other visitors.
Day trips are aplenty. It's just 25 miles to the famous Cumberland Falls, featuring the full-moon-induced moonbow (the only one in the northern hemisphere), horseback riding, whitewater rafting, airplane rides and so much more - all within a short distance. Two hours away is Mammoth Cave National Park (open year-round except Christmas Day). Renting a boat - from pontoon to ski - is a great family and/or friend activity at nearby Lake Cumberland. And Burnside Marina, about 20 minutes away, is one of the best reasons for visiting. (If you bring your own boat, Lake Cumberland Resort has its own boat ramp into the South Fork and is just 3 minutes from the cabin's front porch.)
Golfing is also fantastic at the newly re-designed 18-hole General Burnside State Park golf course - just 15 minutes away. Lee's Ford, another great golf course, is 30 minutes away on the newly-completed Kentucky State Route 914 bypass.
The resort itself has its own convenience store and on-site maintenance. Security is ensured with 24-hour patrols while the entire community is gated. The small city of Somerset, Kentucky (pop. 11,000) has it's own indoor shopping mall, plenty of restaurants, an airport, specialty shops, flea markets, major retailers and a major hospital, friendly folks and much, much more.
We can't wait to have you stay at Grandma's Cabin!
